Notes & Translation:

The music track "Aria Di Mezzo Caraterre" is from the video game "Final Fantasy VI", which was released for the Super NES in 1996 (as Final Fantasy III) and re-released on the Playstation compilation "Final Fantasy Anthology". "Aria..." is also the theme for Celes, one of the game's characters. Shortly after Final Fantasy VI was released, a CD of arranged music from the game was also released. This CD, titled "Final Fantasy VI: Grand Finale" contained an arrangment of "Aria..." backed by a full orchestra and with new Italian lyrics sung by a soprano opera singer.

For a Senior Year music project, I secured the permission of Nobuo Uematsu to perform an arrangement of this piece (mp3 coming soon). I also took the Italian lyrics and translated them into approximate English equivalents.

Aria Di Mezzo Caraterre

Italian:

Amor mio, caro bene,
Perche vai lotan da me?
Giurasti un amor, che mai non dovea,
Aver fine per noi.

Nei momenti di tristezza, nei momenti di dolor,
A te, mia stella, penso
Con infinito adore.

Un legame senza spema,
Perche mai dovrei aver?
Che cosa tu voui, chi'o facci oramai,
Mi devi dere tu.

~Instrumental Break~

Te ringrazio, caro bene,
Amor mio, vita mia.
Al grave doler, al buio timor,
Che il cuore mi turbo!

Dolchemente, con adore,
Hai riposto al mi gridar:
"Per sempre onor, per sempre onor, Que a me, t'attendero."

English Translation:

My love, my dear,
Why are you so far from me?
You swore a love that would not
Have an end for us.

In the moments of sadness,
In the moments of pain,
Of you, my star, I think
With infinite adoration.

A bond without hope,
Why should there ever have to be one?
What should I do?
I ask you to tell me now!

Thank you, my dear,
My love, my life,
For when in great harm, in darkest fear,
How my heart is troubled.

But sweetly, with love,
You give rest as I say to you:
"Forever always, forever always,
Here, I shall wait for you."
